Food Science Department

All applications are directed to the head of institution i.e., Masvingo Polytechnic as advertised on local and national newspapers. Places are not reserved for anyone but rather awarded on a first come, first service approach provided that all prospective students possess the minimum entry requirements for each level as indicated above.
NC Food Science
Full Time - 2 years (1st year at the training institution and the 2nd and final year on the job training and education)

On successful completion of the courses in any one of the levels, graduates can be gainfully employed as:
- Production controllers, technicians, supervisors and process managers within the food industry and or government and private laboratories such as government analyst labs, Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) etc.
- Teachers and lecturers in high schools, vocational training centres and polytechnics upon attaining an educational qualification as an addition to the course.
- Food inspectors in the Ministry of Health/local authority
- Consultants in government departments such as agriculture and in independent practices
- Entrepreneurs in the food industry.
There is a high possibility for further studies in areas such as Food Science, Nutritional Science, Dietetics, Biotechnology, Molecular biology and Genetics, Law and Intellectual Property, Business and Commerce, Chemistry, Process system Engineering and much more.
ND Food Science
Full Time - 2 years (1st year at the training institution and the following year is split into two part where the first 6 months students will be on industrial placement and the remaining 6 months they will be back at the institution).
